GTARC is a wholly controlled subsidiary of GTRC. Chartered in 1998 to serve the contracting needs of the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI), it is also a non-profit, tax exempt corporation with a separate Board of Trustees. GTARC is fiscally separate and distinct from GTRC because GTRI performs research under the cost principles of FAR 31.2, while Resident Instruction uses those of OMB Circular A-21. Consequently, the companies have different financial structures and separate, very different, F&A (indirect) cost calculations. Intellectual property that results from work performed under GTARC is managed by GTRC.
