The village is located in the Chicago metropolitan area, approximately 64 km (40 mi) north of Chicago LoopChicago’s downtown, approximately 22 km (14 mi) west of Lake Michigan, and approximately 24 km (15 mi) south of the Wisconsin border. Grayslake is located in central Lake County. Neighboring communities include Libertyville, IllinoisLibertyville, Mundelein, IllinoisMundelein, Round Lake Park, IllinoisRound Lake Park, Lake Villa, IllinoisLake Villa, Lindenhurst, IllinoisLindenhurst, and Gurnee, IllinoisGurnee. Grayslake is also located in the Avon Township of Lake County with a small portion in the Fremont Township.
