What is the geographical spread of Bry-Air (Asia)?
We are very strong in the Asian region with subsidiaries in China and Malaysia where we also have manufacturing activities. In the USA, we are at No. 2. We have also acquired a plant in Germany for expansion in Europe, where we are as yet not among the leaders, unlike Asia and the US. How do you manage the R&D activities with such diverse geographical locations? Our R&D is basically based in India, but we do co-ordinate with our US subsidiary so as not to duplicate any work. We also have the German acquisition from where we also get the inputs. But predominantly it is led from India. And it is both project and product based, pooling in the experience from all the units globally. But our chairman, Mr Deepak Pahwa, a first generation technocrat, is very passionate about R&D and personally oversees this area, leaving the other things to the professional management.
