What is the Geographical make up of the new Jiwaka province?
The baby land of JIWAKA is geographically surrounded by blue mountains, to secure the great waghi valley of the province..The province has a big river by the name of waghi which is a slow moving river of the province all its life. The province is called baby because it has just recently been declared as seperate from the Western Highlands Province of the country Papua New Guinea. Almost the whole provincial area is very remote, meaning no proper governmental services. There are so many little fresh rivers apart from the Waghi river and they are naturally fresh and healthy. Rain forest on the mountains that surrounds the province.
Geographically, Jiwaka is made up of three electorates spanning 8 districts. They are Anglimp South Waghi which covers Anglimp, South Waghi, and East & West Kambia. Banz and Nondugl districts make up North Waghi and finally the remote Jimi electorate is composed of Upper, Middle and Lower Jimi local level government councils.
