What is the general rule that applies to injured dogs before being moved or handled?
I recommend following these guidelines.
- Determine where the injury is located at.
- Examine it to make sure that the injured area is fractured or broken.
- Touch the spot lightly to see if the dog responds to pain or not
- If not, it is probably broken.
- Now you should pick up the dog by its chest (If that is not the injured area).
- Carry it slowly, but swiftly to a phone.
- Call local veterinarian or animal hospital to retreive the dog and treat him.
- Make sure the dog’s injured area is elevated!
