A road’s functional classification will be evaluated based on the function the road serves in the overall transportation network. The update process will follow guidelines contained in FHWA’s Functional Classification Guidelines manual. In addition, the update process will follow supplemental state guidelines approved by ADOT&PF as part of this Functional Classification Update Project (refer to FAQs #4 and #15 for more information about ADOT&PF guidelines pertaining to functional classification)..
