What is the General Fee?
The State of Ohio has established a fee structure for higher education to follow. It has established instructional fees, general fees, and non-resident surcharges. The general fee was historically called the student services fee and it continues to be used to recover the cost of providing student services at Ohio University. These expenditures include, but are not limited to: Intercollegiate Athletics and the Marching 110 Student Affairs, including Health Services, and student union expenditures Student Government, OU Post, student activities, and student organizations Career Services and Academic Advancement Center Campus Recreation, including debt service for the Ping Center Campus Safety WOUB Student retention initiatives Environmental Health and Safety Kennedy Museum, Kennedy Lecture Series, Public Occasions Office, and other student cultural programs.
