The GDMLA is an annual award established by Headquarters Department of the Army (HQDA) to recognized captains, lieutenants and warrant officers (W-1 and W-2) assigned to major Army commands. The United States Army in Europe (USAREUR) GDMLA program gives special recognition to USAREUR junior officers who personify the ideals of duty, honor, and country while demonstrating outstanding military performance, leadership and achievement. This recognition is based on the junior officers’ contribution, accomplishment and performance during the calendar year of consideration.
