What is the general approach to Diversity Management?
The lack of a common understanding of what is meant by ‘further Diversity in the workplace’ in the Employment Equity Act seems to have affected most HR Practitioners and providers. Diversity is currently being implemented in many organisations all over the world. The objective of Diversity training in South African companies is generally aimed at bettering the skills of managers in managing Diversity. Organisations have to be clear about why they embark on Diversity Management and what they expect from such intervention. Other than the standard of provision, companies should ensure that providers have expertise and credibility. Such providers should base their practical approach on a sound academic rationale. The choice of approach and provider is as important as the intervention itself. In evaluating Diversity strategies, companies should ensure that this work is not undertaken outside of the overall business and HR strategy. This means that Diversity Management should be contextualis
