What is the Gender Gap?
The gender gap refers to the fact that boys outnumber girls increasingly with each additional year of school through high school and college. The Gender gap influences the capacity of a country to address hunger, poverty, sustainable population growth and many other significant problems that they face. It is also significantly related to issues affecting the oppression of women throughout the developing world. Gender gaps are also present in employment, politics and personal freedoms. Malawi, Namibia, and Ethiopia for instance all have substantial gender gaps in their societies. However, the school’s teaching methods and other arrangements controlled by the schools can affect these areas of life both directly as well as indirectly.
