What is the future of weather forecasting?
Answer Hi Faris Currently weather forecasting is composed of a meteorologist interpreting the computer generated weather maps. In the future, about 20 to 30 or so years, the computer will be interpreting and taking the place of a human being offering verbally the forecasts. Even today the computer applies algorithms of predicting how storm systems will evolve with wind, temperature and precipitation for days out to 16: http://www.weatherknowledge.com/long_range_forecast.html The future of forecasting is increasingly better accuracy and more acceptance of the pin point reliability of the forecasts. http://www.nssl.noaa.gov/users/brooks/public_html/waf15/bfd.html In the near future forecasting will be done much as it is done today. http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/paleo/ctl/future.html Computers will completely take over from humans. http://www.robinstewart.com/personal/learn/wfbc/computers.html Someday the accuracy will be close to 95%.
