As of 26 September 2008, there are 378 CFU units and more than 6,250 volunteer members across metropolitan and regional NSW. These numbers are set to increase. The State Government is committed to the CFU program, providing funding to establish new units and support existing members. NSWFB is currently engaging, educating and equipping local residents to confidently carry out bushfire preparation and protection activities in their local area for personal, property and community safety.
