What is the future of microfluidics?
There will likely be many great applications of microfluidics in biology, but our belief is that there is a fundamental unmet need in the growing field of cell biology. For decades, scientists have been content to look at derivatized cell lines in highly artificial environments (Petri/plastic dishes). The field has now reached a point where will be necessary to replace this archaic approach with technology better able to maintain cells in their native states. In this regard, microfluidics offers an extremely promising solution with limitless applications.
