What is the function of the Byrd Alzheimers Institute?
It is the goal of the Johnnie B. Byrd, Sr. Alzheimer’s Center and Research Institute to find a way (or ways) to prevent and cure Alzheimer’s disease. To this end, the Institute initiated collaborations between several centers in Florida that investigate and treat neurological disorders. Our intent is to find genetic and environmental factors that are related to the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease. Knowledge of these factors will enable us to explore the possibility of preventing the disease onset, slowing the progression of the disease and, one day, finding a cure.
