What is the function of pressure relief valve for centrifugal pump?
A pressure relief valve should be installed in the discharge line immediately next to the ump. Its primary purpose is to protect the pump when the discharge line or another part of the hydraulic system becomes plugged. Automatic-reset relief valves are available that can be essentially adjusted to the pressure relief desired. Any relief valve must be placed before the discharge screen, or strainer, since otherwise it cannot protect the pump.
