What is the function of NADPH?

NADPH is NOT an enzyme. The previous answer is incorrect and is describing NADPH oxidase not NADPH. NADPH is an organic molecule, similar to NADH in animals, that is reduced in plants during photosynthesis. The reduction adds 2 electrons and a hydrogen ion (proton) to NADP+ to make NADPH. The NADPH molecule is then used to reduce other molecules in reactions in a plant. A lot of the NADPH is used in the Calvin Cycle where it is used to reduce the caron compounds in the reaction cycle, which creates sugars for use in the plant and helps reduce the the carbon compounds present in the cycle to regenerate the compounds used in the calvin cycle. Also NADPH is used in a number of other reactions in plants and it is used exclusively to transfer electrons to other compounds (reduce them) in the plant.
