What is the function of lubricating oil pumps in compressor station?
The mechanics of seals and sealing systems are not particularly difficult but mechanical seals do depend on very fine tolerances being maintained in the gaps between components if the seals are to work properly. The following description is a para from some training materials I recently peroduced for an oil comnpany: “The mechanical seal is the most versatile type of seal for rotating shafts and consists of a few basic elements which work together to form an efficient seal. In principle, the seal consists of two planed faces arranged perpendicular to the axis of the rotating shaft. One face is fixed to the pump casing or vessel and is stationary, while the other is fixed to the shaft and rotates with it. This is sometimes referred to as a “radial face seal”.To minimise leakage, the two faces should be run with a very small clearance, typically 0.001mm, but since this minimal clearance generates frictional heat and wear, a thin film of lubricating fluid must be maintained between the se
