What is the function of EMAN?
EMAN is a network dedicated to facilitating bi-directional confidential communication between San Diego County’s medical community and public health and safety agencies in order to ensure rapid identification of and response to unusual disease events or public health emergencies. Currently, EMAN participants receive periodic electronic disease alerts from the Epidemiology Division of the San Diego County Health & Human Services Agency (HHSA). These alerts contain information on unusual communicable disease occurrence reported to the Epidemiology Division. Participants are encouraged to report similar disease occurrence as observed in their profession or area of expertise.
