What is the function of cell membrane?
Even though it does not seem that the cell membrane has other functions besides working like a bag to hold all the cell’s organelles, in reality it has many many important functions. Since the membrane is semi-permeable, it controls the movements of substances in and out of the cell through the various proteins that are embedded in it. This allows the cell to get nutrients and get rid of the wastes that it produces. It also controls how much goes in and how much goes out.
