What is the function of an emulsifier?

0

The basic components of an emulsion (creams, milks, lotions) are water and oil, to provide the skin with moisture and oils. The water phase contains moisture-regulating or moisture-retaining substances and other active ingredients. The oil phase contains nourishing lipids and oils. The emulsifier enables a stable mixture to be formed from the two phases by reducing the surface tension between them. One of these emulsifiers is Eucerit®. Eucerit is a highly purified wool (LANOLIN) alcohol. It has a much lower allergic potential than other commonly used wool lanolin alcohols. Eucerit is the only raw material that Beiersdorf produces itself and is used in many Beiersdorf products, e.g. in NIVEA Creme, which has remained popular for decades thanks to its skin nourishing and skin tolerance properties.
