What is the Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program?
The Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program strengthens foreign language instruction at U.S. colleges and universities and provides future teachers with the opportunity to refine their skills while increasing their English language fluency and knowledge of the cultures and customs of the United States. Fulbright FLTA fellows can work up to 20 hours per week and are required to enroll in at least two classes per semester. Upon completion of the program, fellows return home and take positions teaching at the secondary and university level. As a result of the program, fellows return with a high proficiency in English and are able to speak with integrity and authority about the United States, its values and its people.
