A step therapy program for Forteo® will be implemented on April 1, 2010. The step therapy program will ensure that Forteo® is used only in situations where previous treatment with an oral bisphosphonate (osteoporosis medication) has failed to treat the patient’s osteoporosis. It will also ensure that Forteo® is used for no more than 2 years of treatment.
