What is the formula for computing the efficiency rate of a distillation column?

0

In any distillation column you are trying to make a separation between two or more fractions. If you divide the amount of the “target” fraction(s) in the product from that in the feed, you will get the efficiency of the process. As an example: if you are separating alcohol and water and there is 100 pounds of alcohol in the feed and the distillation process produces 95 pounds of alcohol then the process is 95% efficient.
