Unless your student newspaper has a set format, why don’t you check out movie reviews in your favorite, newspapers, magazines or www.imdb.com (the Internet Movie Database)and go from there. Keep in mind the kind of review that appeals to you as a reader. Of course, you don’t want to include any “spoilers” that would ruin the movie for your readers. Also, believe it or not, your public library is likely to have some great collections of reviews by well-known reviewers as well as some more quirky approaches. Personally, I like the annual Videohound’s Golden Movie Retriever where, instead of star ratings, they use bones: one to four – four bones = “Masterful, flawless, or nearly so. Will want to recommend to complete strangers on the street.” and if the movie is awful, they give it a Woof! which tranlates as “Watching your neighbor’s vacation videos might be less painful” Good Luck on giving Roger Ebert a run for his popcorn money!
