What is the Forest Service (FS) responsibility with regards to water & septic systems?
Upper Lee Vining Canyon • The FS does not currently have any responsibility for these systems. The current concessionaire has been taking care of these systems. There is no collection agreement in place. This collection agreement covers FS labor, monitoring and materials. The division of responsibilities and related cost for maintaining these systems is negotiable and will be determined when the collection agreement is created. • Pump systems in general are vertical wells with solar pumps. On cloudy days or multiple cloudy days, generator assists are necessary to keep the storage tank at capacity in the Big Bend CG – this storage tank is 900 gal. Reds Meadow • These systems are run by the FS. Sewer pumps for lift station hours are monitored 3-4 times per week. There are two pumps and the hours should be reasonably close on each.
