What is the food in Nicaragua like?
The influence of the Spanish can be seen greatly in the food and cuisine of Nicaragua. Many of their dishes are based from Spanish food. Rice and beans are very common and had at almost every meal in many households in Nicaragua. The dishes that are commonly seen in Nicaragua are also seen in other Central American countries and even as far north as Mexico. Some of the dishes include the sopa de mondongo, which is a soup that consists of tripe from a cow and vegetables in a citrus juice. Rice may be added for more flavor. Another example of a Nicaraguan dish is Vigoron, which is the Nicaraguan version of fast food. It is easy to prepare and fills you up. It consists of fried pork skins, pickled cabbage, tomatoes and onions. Arroz con leche is a Nicaraguan desert that is made primarily of rice and milk.
