Florida, Illinois and Louisiana are flatter than Kansas. However, Florida takes the cake … the pancake, that is. 🙂 The elevation for Kansas ranges from 750 feet at the mouth of the Kansas River to 4000 feet on the western border. Kansas might look like a pancake, but over 50% of its dough is leaning to one side. 🙂 The runner-up, Louisiana, has an elevation ranging from 8 feet below sea level in New Orleans to 535 feet above sea level at the northwest corner. The mean elevation is 100 feet above sea level. Louisiana is not only flatter than a pancake, it’s flatter than a crepe. 🙂 The winner, Florida, has an elevation ranging from sea level to 345 feet above. This, plus its size, makes it flattest, both in terms of differential and flatness per area. It wins in all categories.
