What is the First-year Seminar in Biology?
The First-year Seminar in Biology (Bio-101) is designed for first year students, and its aim is to provide an introduction to the faculty of the Department of Biology, to discuss ways to improve studying, note-taking and test-taking, and to reflect upon what it means to be a Biologist. Credits for taking the Seminar are counted towards the departmental requirements for the major; this Seminar is not counted as a course towards the total course count because it is 1 credit (a course is defined greater than 2 credits). This Seminar is required of first year students and is optional for transfer students.
