What is the Firefighter Exchange Program?
Toronto Fire Services has an international firefighter exchange program with other participating fire departments. This exchange program is designed for Toronto Fire Fighters who wish to avail themselves of the experience of going to another country to develop a higher level of professionalism. It is an opportunity for two people working in the same profession to exchange positions for a defined period of time. Participants exchange for a one-year period. These people exchange duty hours, working agreements and vacation for the term of the exchange. They do not exchange salaries.
