What is the final solution for “Fake photos of 1960s moon-landing” argument?
There isn’t any “final answer.” In the modern world a photograph of anything can depict a real event or simply be fabricated. The “proof” of the moon landing isn’t pictures that show guys standing on the moon. That’s really not proof of anything. The proof is the sum total of the science involved and common sense and logic. I want to add that the specific objections to the photos — the lights the shadows the curves of this or that rock or the reflections in visors or lack of them — have been thoroughly refuted in the literature on the subject. In other words, the photographs appear authentic to any expert on photography or science.
There is no final solution because the moon-hoaxers will always have a way to dismiss any argument against them. If we built a powerful enough telescope to take detailed photos of the moon landing sites, the hoaxers will say the photos are faked. If we send a mission to one of the actual landing sites to prove they’re real, the hoaxers will say the evidence was planted there.
The final solution is simply that no-one has been able to convincingly show that the photos WERE faked. All the ‘anomalies’ pointed out (no stars, non-parallel shadows, lighting effects, same backgrounds) are all actually quite normal and as expected. The conspiracy nuts just don’t take the time to understand what they are looking at. If they had they’d observe those same things in pictures taken on Earth, possibly even by themselves.
I think that this sad, sad phenomenon will never completely die. It will eventually dwindle down to fringe lunacy like the Flat Earth Society. (Why in the hell did I honor that with capitalization? lol) Even if China went there tomorrow, and landed, and sent back an array of photos with every footprint, every tire track, every little piece of equipment / memorabilia left behind on the Moon in exactly the spots photos show, and for all 6 locations, there will be those hardcore idiots who forget to wear their tinfoil hats, and will say that it was all sent up robotically to hide the truth, never mind that the landscapes in the background will be dead matches as well. At least it will remove all doubt for the normal people. I harp, and harp, and harp on this issue as I am truly 100% proud of project Apollo, and it saddens me to see such a wonderful acheivement trampled in the mud through spite, disrespect, greed, or downright guillability. I wish the reality TV watching, Mtv generation wo
