What Is The Film “Brief Encounter” About?
The movie Brief Encounter is a wonderful film about what happens when two people who are already happily married meet by chance. They are played beautifully, wonderfully and sensitively by Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard in this black and white masterpiece of British cinema. They are helplessly thrown together and although they are deeply and emotionally connected, they show great moral courage. It is a lesson to us all about the value of love and our own ability to make choices about how we handle even the most thrilling or unusual of situations. This film is directed by David Lean who directed so many classics such as In Which We Serve, Lawrence of Arabia, A Passage to India and many other greats. It was produced by Noel Coward, who wrote the play on which it was based which is called Still Life. He remains uncredited for this, and there also a number of uncredited screenwriters attached to the movie. See it if you love old movies.
