What is the Field Training Program (FTO)?
The purpose of the Field Training Program is to produce a qualified, professional, solo Highway Patrol officer. The field training period is the most important time for a new officer. The Departments Field Training Program is designed to take the academic knowledge the new officer has learned and observe them apply this knowledge in a practical setting. This setting is supervised by a trained and knowledgeable senior officer (Field Training Instructor) who will document the new officers performance.
