What is the Fiddler on the Roof plot overview?
The basic plot is a poor family living in Russia in 1905. The family has the main character/father, Tevye, also as the narrator. There is also a mother, and five daughters (3 of which are more important to the story than the other 2- and their names are Tzeitel, Hodel, and Chava). all 3 girls want to get married. 2 of them do successfully, with the reluctant(after all, their father Tevye really believes in tradition) permission of their father. (Hodel does have to move away to a different part of the country, though). Chava, the youngest, is not granted permission, but she marries her love anyway. Eventually, the family must leave their house to overcome difficulties in their part of the country. the end of the movie shows everyone from Anatevka (the setting- a village) walking off to find new and hopefully better lives.
