What is the Felonies that Fail Review Process?
Beginning in the fall of 2007 we began sending letters back to the Police Department on every felony charge that resulted in a dismissal or reduction to a misdemeanor. In early Spring, a panel of police officers and prosecutors reviewed the letters from 2008 to review these cases for the purpose of identifying problems in the prosecution or investigation of these offenses and to identify areas of training or emphasis. One of the recommendations from this panel is to conduct these reviews on a quarterly basis, which was immediately put into place.
