Fuzzy logic is an attempt to deal with the inapplicability of standard control to many real life situations. The controllers use algorithms in which the amount of adjustment is constantly proportional to the error in the sensed variable. Think of a room air conditioner. When it clicks off the room is cold enough. Then the room gets warmer and warmer but the A/C does nothing. Finally the room gets hot enough that the A/C thermostat snaps on and a blast of cooling air comes out until the room gets to the right temperature. Think instead of a fuzzy logic controller for that same application. When the room is cool there is no output. As it heats up the A/C releases small amounts of chilled air to counteract that heating. The amount of chilled air created and sent into the room will depend on how warm the room is. That is the concept.
