The FE exam is a comprehensive assessment of an engineer’s knowledge of basic engineering skills and is the first of two examinations that are required by all state boards for licensure. The exam is administered in the United States twice a year, in April and October. Exams are developed and graded by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) and are used by every state.
