What is the fascination with the Occult practices of Nazi Germany?
The Nazi aesthetic is particularly appealing to Satanists and because of that, Satanism has been accused of being fascist. There’s a big difference between a fetish, interest and incorporating fascism into our philosophy. Satanism and Fascism have some things in common: * Shared attitudes to drama and imagery. Fascist Germany is secretly admired by Satanists for “the drama, the lightning, the choreography with which they moved millions of people” [LaVey]. In short, shock tactics is a pragmatic point of agreement. “Aesthetics more than anything else are the common ground between Satanism and fascism” [Blanche Barton], but beyond this there is little in common * Themes of theatre, power and activity But Satanism and Fascism are Deeply Opposed on many points. * Satanism upholds freedom, individuality; whilst fascism is a belief that the individual is subservient to a powerful state * Sexually, Satanism supports all consensual sex, whereas Nazi Germany only tolerated strict heterosexuality
