Up until July 1998, the Shipping line or its Agent was responsible for the payment of landing, storage and delivery charges on behalf of the importer/consignee. These charges were then recovered by the Line or its Agent. Now, except in the case of NVOCC’s, the importer/consignee must pay these charges directly to the Barbados Port Authority. There is therefore no additional expense to the importer/consignee.
