What is the Fair Labor Standards Act (“FLSA”)?

0

The FLSA is a federal labor law that establishes minimum wage, overtime pay, and a variety of other federal labor and employment law provisions. Covered workers are entitled to a minimum wage of not less that $5.15 an hour. Overtime pay at a rate of at least one and one-half times a covered worker’s regular rate of pay is required after forty (40) hours of work in a workweek. The FLSA contains a collective action provision that permits the joining of hundreds or thousands of claims for “similarly situated” employees.
