What is the extent of Cornings investment in Taiwan?
Corning knows the importance of Taiwan’s TFT-LCD business and commits to its growth by continuously making investments in its Taiwan manufacturing facilities. Beginning in 2000, we started construction of Taiwan’s first finishing plant for TFT-LCD glass substrates in Tainan Science Based Industrial Park by investing over USD 60 million. To meet Taiwan’s growing demand, we added Taiwan’s first LCD glass melting plant by investing more than USD 100 million. Since then we have continued our pace of major investments in Taiwan by investing more than USD 1 billion to construct and expand a major glass production and finishing facility in the Central Taiwan Science Park, Taichung, Taiwan and announced additional significant expansions to our Tainan facility.
