What is the expiry date of the EC Type Examination Certificate?
EC Type Examination Certificates for PPE are issued by Notified Bodies as a statement that the models submitted for evaluation are considered to meet the Essential Health and Safety requirements of European Directive 89/686/EEC (the PPE Directive). The certificates currently have no expiry date and remain valid until the design of the product is changed. Revisions to the PPE Directive currently being discussed include proposals to time limit certificates. The lifetime is likely to be five years and reissue will probably involve repeating a limited number of critical tests.
