What is the Expanded Programme on Immunization?
The Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) is a global effort of governments, the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), other United Nations agencies, bilateral development agencies, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to immunize the world’s children to prevent the suffering, disability and death due to six vaccine-preventable diseases: measles, diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, tuberculosis and polio.
