What is the Exception Test?
The Exception Test may be required when a site has been found to pass the Sequential Test but due to the vulnerability of the proposed development wider considerations need to be addressed before the development may be considered appropriate. To satisfy the Exception Test it must be demonstrated that the site offers wider sustainability benefits, is located on previously developed land and the development is considered to be safe over the lifetime of the development.
