Along with your Entrust EV SSL Certificate, Entrust provides a Site Seal that includes the Entrust EV Updater. The Entrust EV Updater is the newest technology that enables Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 to display the green address bar, organization name, and other Extended Validation interface conventions. This means that the transaction is encrypted and your company has been authenticated according to the most rigorous industry standard. Without the Entrust EV Updater, you can not ensure that IE 7 users able to see the green address bar. The Entrust EV Updater works by prompting the automatic root update functionality in IE 7 for Windows XP on visiting client systems and therefore enabling the IE7 client to “recognize” the SSL Certificate’s EV status. In the absence of the root update, no Windows XP client can ever see the green bar on your site.
