What is the estimated energy savings specific to Onsted, compared to “conventional” HVAC solution?
The key to this discussion is to first understand that the installation of any new system in these buildings with code compliant ventilation will increase energy consumption (and therefore cost) even if we replace the system with another that does heating only. By adding cooling we will increase operating costs further. Why we propose the water source/Geo-exchange heat pump system is that historically we have seen these systems consume 30-40% less energy that other HVAC system options. Using the historical figures we have seen at other buildings, and applying them to the size of the building you have in Onsted, we estimate an annual savings of approximately $30,000 compared to other HVAC system solutions. Again, we have to clarify that each building and each owner is different in how they utilize their facilities, so we cannot predict actual energy consumption or guarantee a system’s performance.
