Senate Bill 6120, relating to health insurance benefits following the birth of a child, was passed in 1996. Changes in PEBB contracts were included as of January 1, 1998. This bill allows medical coverage for a newborn child whose mother is an eligible dependent, even if the child is not ultimately enrolled in the plan. Coverage is extended to the newborn child for a minimum of 21 days, even if there are separate hospital admissions. Refer to RCW 48.43.115 (f).
