What is the environmental impacts of floods?
Floods are naturally occuring phenomena. Floods do have positive impacts on environment as well as negative ones….Floods maintain ecosystem habitants & soil fertility. Human activities have deepily affected flood plains and the nature of flooding. Activities such as drainage of wetlands & land clearance for farming, upstream development that replaces natural vegitation with paved asphalt; and construction of channels, leeves, reservoirs change the flood cycle often result in increased run off, sestruction of riparian habitat and increased water pollution. All which can be considered destructive to natural environment….
