What is the environmental dilemma facing the Murray-Darling River System?
The drought has placed a lot of pressure on the murray darling basin with diminishing water levels creating many problems such as water quality. This effects the habitat of many creatures that rely on the murray to survive. Agriculture has also caused the Murray to suffer with many farms using the water resources to sustain their farms again this causes a depletion of the water. Barrages were put in place in some of the Lakes that also enter the sea to create a less salt water effect but this is not a natural state. There is some talk that the barrages should be removed to allow the lakes to return to their natural state and this would also assist the Murray. http://www.mdbc.gov.au/about http://www.environment.gov.au/water/publ… These sites may help you with the questions about cost and such Then you get peoples holiday huts
