What is the energy-saving technology inside ENERGY STAR qualified home electronics that makes them more energy-efficient than other products?
Manufacturers have used a number of new technologies in their products to qualify them for the ENERGY STAR. These technologies include improved switch mode power supplies to reduce standby energy losses (i.e., power used when the device is switched “off”), changes in circuit design, adding “smart” chargers to prevent overcharging of cordless telephone batteries, providing energy-efficient displays, and using flash memory or Static RAM to manage standby power use. ENERGY STAR qualified home electronics incorporate the same features as their traditional counterparts with reduced energy use.
