What is the emphasis of UABs Masters Degree in School Counseling?
UAB’s School Counseling program trains students which reflect the philosophies endorsed by the American School Counselor Association and the Education Trust. School counselors are trained to be leaders in their schools, promoters of diversity, committed to equity for all students, collaborators, knowledgeable of the nature and function of schools and how to politically advocate for students, as well as how to develop and exercise vision. School counseling students are also trained to implement, manage, evaluate, and determine effectiveness of a school counseling program which is modeled after ASCA’s National Standards for School Counseling Programs.
